Neuvolan Sivutasku is a private midwife clinic in Lieto, just about 30 minutes from Turku. We offer individual maternity care, pregnancy ultrasounds, breastfeeding support and other midwife services in a calm and welcoming environment.
Here you will meet experienced midwives who have worked with many different families and many different kinds of pregnancies. We believe that pregnancy and parenthood do not have to look just one way. There is time to ask questions, talk things through and find the kind of support that feels right for you and your family.
Our services are available in Finnish, English and Swedish. You are warmly welcome whether you are looking for one individual appointment or more continuous support during pregnancy and early parenthood.
At Neuvolan Sivutasku, you do not have to know exactly what kind of appointment you need before you contact us. Sometimes it is enough to start with a conversation, and together we can work out what kind of support would be most useful for you.
Not sure which appointment to book? It is not a problem if you choose the "wrong" one. If you prefer, you can also book an appointment by phone or email, and we are happy to help you choose the right service.
If you happen to book the "wrong" service, we will simply charge you according to the service we actually provide and always explain the price openly before you leave.
A 20% surcharge applies to appointments on Saturdays and public holidays, as these times are particularly popular.
Pregnancy ultrasounds
We offer pregnancy ultrasounds from early pregnancy all the way to the final weeks of pregnancy. Our ultrasounds are performed by experienced midwives with additional training in clinical ultrasound and extensive experience from hospital maternity care and fetal screening.
An ultrasound appointment is about more than looking at a picture on the screen. We take time to check the baby's growth and wellbeing, listen to the heartbeat and look at the things that are relevant to your stage of pregnancy. You are also welcome to tell us what you would especially like to see or talk about.
You can book an early pregnancy ultrasound, a pregnancy ultrasound later in pregnancy, a late-pregnancy ultrasound or a 3D/4D ultrasound. Each appointment lasts 30 minutes, and you will receive both digital and printed pictures to take home. Current prices are €88 for an early pregnancy ultrasound, €98 for a mid-pregnancy or late-pregnancy ultrasound and €118 for a 3D/4D ultrasound.
Our ultrasounds are not a replacement for the fetal screening ultrasounds provided by public maternity care, and we do not perform diagnostics. If something concerning is seen during the examination, we will discuss it with you and, when needed, consult our doctor and recommend appropriate further assessment.
Maternity care and midwifery services
You can come to Neuvolan Sivutasku for individual maternity care. Our midwife appointments can be used alongside your public maternity clinic or, if you prefer, as your main maternity care. We take your situation and wishes into account and can support you throughout pregnancy.
If you feel anxious about giving birth or would like to talk through a previous birth experience, you can book an appointment with a midwife to talk things through and prepare for your upcoming birth. We can also go through practical things that can help you prepare for birth, such as different positions, breathing and relaxation techniques, and what to expect during labour.
Midwife acupuncture may help with symptoms such as early pregnancy nausea, migraines and pelvic pain, and can also be used to support the baby in turning from a breech position. With Mama Balance® massage-treatment acupuncture is good for gentle preparation for birth too. These two appointments are intended to give you time to slow down, listen to your body and prepare for birth in a way that feels right for you.
We also offer breastfeeding support both at the clinic and as a home visit. You can come to us during pregnancy if you would like to prepare for breastfeeding, or after your baby is born if feeding feels difficult or you simply want someone experienced to look at the situation with you. Baby Balance® baby massage is also available.
